Conservation volunteering

Walking trail

There are lots of different ways you can get involved in protecting and enhancing Bromley's biodiversity and countryside.

As a volunteer you can become involved with a wide range of practical conservation activities, public events and it is a great way to meet people.

Bromley Countryside Volunteer Service

We run regular practical workdays (both during the week and on weekends) on both Bromley and privately owned land. Training and tools are provided. You need to bring a packed lunch and work wear, including stout boots and waterproofs. Previous experience is not required, so give it a go!

Activities include:

  • Practical conservation work such as pond clearance, coppicing, hedge laying, scrub clearance and tree planting
  • leading ice well tours at High Elms
  • survey and monitoring of wildlife and habitats
  • assisting in the 'nature centre' in BEECHE
  • helping at annual events such as Woodland Day, National Nest Box Day, National Apple Day
  • If you would like to find out more or apply to be a volunteer, please download the information pack and application form.
