Scientific Enquiry (KS1)

This course will cover all the investigative skills required for Attainment Target 1: Scientific enquiry. It introduces pupils to the scientific process in a simple and manageable way. 

Areas covered

Is High Elms pond polluted?
Planning: pupils will have a chance to observe and then collect information to prove or disprove their observation; plan how to investigate this using a fair test

Obtaining and presenting evidence: collect results by sampling the pond animals

Considering evidence and evaluating: compare and discuss results

Planning: pupils will have a chance to observe and then collect information to compare what happened with what they expected would happen; the planning process and discuss the idea of a fair test.

Obtaining and presenting evidence: carry out the investigation collecting the evidence and presenting it in simple ways.

Considering evidence and evaluating: compare and discuss results

Notes

This course is available from the Easter break to the October half term. The pond 'rests' during the autumn and winter. Sorry, this course is not available as a half day option.
