Parking and bus lane enforcement

A team of Civil Enforcement Officers patrol the borough’s streets and car parks daily to enforce parking restrictions.  Modern technology is used to issue Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) and record images of parking contraventions.  Each officer is also equipped with a body worn video device, which helps with training and improving communication with motorists and the general public.

School zig zag and bus lanes restrictions are enforced by automated fixed cameras as part of the council’s commitment to traffic management and maintaining road safety.

Further information

Traffic Management Act regulations give the power to authorities throughout England to issue Penalty Charge Notices for contraventions detected using a camera and associated recording equipment.

These are known as approved devices. Such equipment which is used solely to detect contraventions must be certified as an approved device by the Secretary of State.
