Electrical goods collection
We provide a collection service for household electrical goods from houses and flats, for all residents in the borough.
How to book a collection
To book a collection, simply call 01795 434114 Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm or email firstname.lastname@example.org , including your name, address and contact numbers, as well as a list of the electrical items to be collected.
As this is a specialist service, appointments can only be made on the bookings hotline or by email. We expect lines to be busy, particularly in peak periods, so please be patient when booking an appointment.
Collections can be booked for the next available weekday and you’ll be given a morning or afternoon appointment depending on your location.
£27 for unlimited non cooling electrical items.
There is an additional variable charge according to size for cooling items only, eg a fridge, freezer or air conditioning unit etc, which is dependent on the size of item.
|Size of cooling unit||Cost per item not inc the initial £27 charge|
|Small under the counter style, up to 3ft or 91cms||£16 per item|
|Medium over 3ft or 91cms to 6ft or 183cm||£32 per item|
|American style fridges and/or over 6ft or 183cm||£50 per item|
The cost of this service is subsidised by manufacturers of electrical items, however due to more stringent Government regulations around the way fridges and freezers are recycled, there has been an increase in costs for recycling including that these items have to be treated as hazardous waste.
Payment can be made by credit and debit cards or cheque. Cheques are payable to Sweeep Kuusakoski Ltd
Funds will need to be cleared prior to a collection taking place.
You can cancel a collection for any reason but, please note we can only refund payment if you cancel at least two working days in advance of the agreed collection date and time.
If a collection is re-arranged with less than two working days’ notice, you will be charged for a new booking.
What happens next
Once confirmed, the collection crew, who will have full identification, will pick up the electrical items direct from inside your house or flat. Electrical items should not be left outside but items will need to be unplugged and ‘ready to go’ and so items like washing machines and freezers will need to be ‘unplumbed’ or defrosted.
If you cannot be at home for a collection, you can leave your items in a back garden, garage, enclosed porch or with a neighbour - you will have to inform the representative of the name and address of the neighbour at the time of booking.
The collection staff are fully insured to enter your property to remove electrical items, as long as a competent adult always accompanies them.
It is the responsibility of the householder to ensure items are kept secure prior to collection.
Neither the council nor its contractors accept liability for damage to property during removal of items. Collections are carried out at the residents own risk. Booking a collection constitutes acceptance of this condition.
For general enquiries after you have made your booking please call; 01795 434 125 or email; email@example.com
What we collect
The collection service covers any broken or unwanted items no matter how big or small. As long as it was run by a plug or a battery it can be recycled.
Whilst we will collect a number of electrical items in one collection for a total cost of £27, please note cooling items (eg: fridge freezer, air con unit) are an additional cost per item.
This service is only available for the collection of electrical items and is separate from our bulky collection service .
This collection service does not apply to business waste and businesses needing to dispose of electrical items cannot use it.
What happens to the electrical items
The items collected are recycled locally, in Kent, by SWEEEP Kuusakoski , at their processing plant, in partnership with Veolia, the council’s waste services contractor. To find out what happens to all your electrical items, please watch the short video on SWEEEP's website.
