Clinical waste

Our clinical waste collection allows you to dispose of medical waste arising from treatment at home. Collection is normally arranged following a referral by a hospital, GP or health visitor - ask for a referral.

Details

The collection of clinical waste is undertaken discreetly, in an unmarked van, and records of the collection are confidential. All waste is taken to a special incinerator, which destroys the material, and produces energy from the heat.

Clinical waste should be stored in special yellow sacks and must not be placed with the normal rubbish. Any sharp instruments such as scalpels or needles must be placed in special yellow plastic containers - sharps boxes. We provide free yellow sacks and sharps boxes to domestic customers.
