About traffic improvement schemes in Bromley

Bromley Council has a duty to manage the road network to ensure, as far as possible, the safe and expeditious movement of traffic, which includes pedestrians and other vulnerable road users.

How do we decide which transport schemes are needed?

They have been highlighted either by residents, businesses, Ward Councillors or Bromley Council itself and are prioritised to improve those locations of greatest need first.

Each scheme is unique; designed to change the road environment and ultimately reduce congestion and increase road safety.  All such schemes go through a very strict safety audit process, in order that highway and safety measures are considered from the viewpoints of all road users

How are transport improvement schemes funded?

Most of the transport improvement schemes in the borough are funded by Transport for London.
