Council tax discounts and exemptions

Empty properties

From April 2013, local authorities have been able to set the level of discount applicable to empty properties in their borough. Bromley Council, in line with many other authorities, set a 0% discount on empty properties.

With effect from 1 April 2013 unoccupied dwellings are subject to the full council tax and this will be payable by the taxpayer in the normal manner as if the premises were occupied.

This decision to apply a 0% discount was made by Bromley Council`s Executive Committee on 28 November 2012.
