Museum Education Service
Bromley Museum provides a free education service for all schools in the London Borough of Bromley. Our loans boxes come complete with teachers notes, and are ideal for bringing the past to life. Museum staff are also available to provide talks in schools.
Loan Boxes and Talks
Bromley Museum has a number of loans boxes that can be borrowed by any school in the London Borough of Bromley. We also offer talks and handling sessions, either at your school or at the museum. Current subjects include:
- Geology
- Ancient Egyptians
- Ancient Greeks (box only)
- Romans
- Tudors
- Victorian House
- Victorian Wash Day
- World War I
- 1930s Kitchen
- World War II
- Olden Day Toys
- Seaside in the Past
- Lighting
- Multiple Materials
- African Materials
- Fine Art
Loans boxes are available to keep for up to half a term, and taught sessions can be arranged to take place any time during the school year. Arranging a loans box or talk is easy. Just phone the museum on the number above or send us an email.
Visiting the Musem
Entry to the museum is free. Schools can visit the museum Monday to Friday 10.00am to 5.00pm, but we must know in advance so please call or email us to arrange a date. At the museum we can offer the following for schools:
- Special trails of the galleries and building. Parts of the building date back to Tudor times.
- Object handling sessions on a range of subjects (see above)
- The interactive Bromley's Past and ‘Your Place!’ galleries.
- Archaeology sessions: excavating and sorting Roman artefacts.
You could also combine your visit to the museum with a trip to Crofton Roman Villa.
