Museum Talks and Guided Tours
Bromley Museum provides talks about the history and archaeology of the borough for local groups, clubs or societies. Reminiscence sessions and guided tours of the museum building, The Priory, can also be arranged.
Talks For Adult Groups
Below is the range of subjects that the museum currently provides talks on:
- Art of the Borough
- Famous Victorians of the Borough
- Famous People of the Borough
- Bromley's Wartime Memories
- A History of Orpington Priory and Bromley Museum
- The Romans in Bromley
Talks are usually up to an hour long and are supported with slides. If you would like a talk about a subject not listed above please contact the museum to discuss further.
Guided Tours of the Priory
Bromley Museum is situated in The Priory, Orpington, an important historic building set in attractive gardens. We are happy to give groups free guided tours of the building (including areas not usually open to the public) but we do need to know in advance, so call or email us to arrange a date. Between April and October Priory tours can be combined with a tour of Crofton Roman Villa.
Reminiscence Sessions
Bromley Museum is happy to visit groups to run reminiscence sessions and object handling sessions. We will bring original artefacts and photos to the session and discuss their history as a starting point. These sessions usually last for about one hour and can be themed or general. The Second World War tends to be a popular topic and always leads to interesting discussions.
Costs
The following charges apply:
- £25.00 per talk
- £25.00 per reminiscence session.
- Tours of The Priory are free.
