This is a medium-sized local open space with a childcare facility in the pavilion. The main entrance is in Havelock Road with a second entrance in Homesdale Road.
Hayes Common covers 79 hectares and is dominated by secondary oak woodland with small patches of lowland dry heath land, dry acid grassland, lichen heath, scrub and ponds. It has a high biodiversity value - some of the habitats are of national importance. The Common is very popular with visitors and a network of permissive footpaths and bridleways cross the site. There are car parks in Baston Road, Croydon Road and Commonside.
Former gardens of hayes Rectory, laid out in an ornamental manner and now contains Hayes Library.
