Situated on the northern edge of Bromley’s green belt, these sites offer areas of ancient, semi-natural and broad-leaved woodland, meadows, hedgerows and ponds. There are many access points, including Broadwater Gardens, Cherrycot Hill and Tubbenden Lane.

Downe Orchard, Rookery Road, Downe BR6

Situated within the nominated World Heritage Site this is a small orchard planted by the local community in the early 1990s with a variety of old Kentish apple trees. Recently there has been successful re-introduction of mistletoe to selected host trees; a species Darwin studied while living in the local area.

This small recreation ground adjoins Down Primary School and has a children’s play area with equipment.

Green Street Green Common, Pinewood Drive, Green Street Green BR6

This large, green open space has benches and picnic tables.

High Elms Country Park, Shire Lane, Farnborough BR6

The Countryside & Parks Service are based at High Elms Country Park which has over 100 hectares of woodland and meadows that support a rich variety of wildlife. It is a popular site for families and walkers. The Countryside & Parks Service run events and activities throughout the year at High Elms and at other sites throughout the borough. BEECHE – Bromley Environmental Education Centre at High Elms opened in March 2008 and has a café and exhibition area, along with multifunctional rooms that will be available for use by community and school groups

There is also a golf course run by Bromley Mytime, car parking available at the course off High Elms Road (look out for the golf course signs).

This small playground is on north side of Rushmore Hill and has a small children’s play area with equipment.

Leamington Avenue Playground, Leamington Avenue, Orpington BR6

This small local open space is used as a children’s playground.

Lilly’s Wood, Chelsfield Lane, Orpington BR6

This small local open space was planted with saplings around the millennium.

Poverest Park and Covet Wood, Footbury Hill Road, Orpington BR6

This is a large, gently sloping recreation ground. The main entrance to these sites is in Footbury Hill Road and there is a footpath adjacent to Perry Hall School, Perry Hall Road, which runs through the park.

Covet Wood is a conservation area and is situated alongside the park with entrances in Lockley Drive, Covet Wood Close and Clovelly Way.
 

Pratts Bottom Common, Rushmore Hill, Pratts Bottom BR6

A small open area of grass with picnic tables. Regularly used for local fairs and fetes.

Priory Gardens, Church Hill, Orpington BR6

A large, urban, historic garden. This site is an ornamental park with formal bedding, rose garden and two lakes with wild fowl. There is a dog-free zone on this site.
