New West Wickham swimming pool and library facilities

An exciting proposal to replace the ageing West Wickham swimming pool and library with a modern pool and library.

The proposal to build a modern pool and library on the existing leisure centre site as part of a newly built centre has been agreed in principal by the Council Executive (March 2018).

The early stage proposals, would see a new swimming pool being built on the existing leisure centre , including a modern library.   The new 25 metre swimming pool and learner pool would meet Sports England specifications, with the building also including gym facilities and the new library.  The new library would have at least the same floor space as the existing library.

Alongside the state of the art facilities, new housing would also be included as part of the redeveloped leisure centre site.  The existing library site would then be used for housing.

In addition initial preparatory work necessary to submit a planning application is underway, with more detailed work following, including design work and public consultation.

It is envisaged that a planning application could be submitted by a developer towards the end of 2018 or in 2019, with this developer appointed, following the outcome of a tendering process, to be held using as part of the OJEU legal requirements.

Whilst consultation will take place locally in due course, please let us know if you would like to be contacted as additional information becomes available.
