Bromley residents and businesses are urged to respond to a consultation about their local broadband capability, which will guide government funding to improve digital connectivity for more urban areas
The consultation forms part of the government’s Project Gigabit, a £5bn infrastructure project to deliver fast and reliable digital connectivity across the country.
Responses are now being sought by 4 November, which could influence where the government decides to target this funding. Residents and businesses can complete the consultation on the government website.
This stage of consultation follows previous engagement for Project Gigabit, which has recently shifted focus from rural to more urban areas, such as town centres.
Councillor Yvonne Bear, Executive Councillor for Renewal, Recreation and Housing said: “I urge our residents and businesses to respond to this worthwhile consultation, which could help ensure funding is correctly targeted to improve digital broadband infrastructure in Bromley. The council will also be submitting a response to the consultation based on our understanding of where gaps in coverage exist, and I thank ward councillors for providing input for this, but we need local residents and businesses to also contribute so that no areas with inadequate digital connectivity are left behind.”
The Government is seeking views from relevant stakeholders in this consultation, including internet service providers, broadband infrastructure operators, borough councils, businesses and members of the public, to understand high speed gigabit-capable broadband infrastructure in Greater London.
