An improved coronavirus testing facility for those with symptoms in Crystal Palace is being planned and welcomed following agreement with the government.
This newly improved site is due to open in the park in mid-September and will be able to be reached through Canada gate opposite the junction of Anerley Hill and Cintra Park.
Until that time from late August a temporary mobile testing unit will be open and available to residents on a daily basis in the smaller Sydenham gate car park.. It is anticipated that these temporary arrangements will be in place until the more permanent arrangements are ready.
Councillor Diane Smith, Executive Councillor for Adult Care and Health said, “Whilst the numbers of cases of coronavirus is much reduced locally from the high numbers seen at the beginning of the year, there remains a need for testing facilities and therefore the news about the improvements for the Crystal Palace site is welcomed.”
Three testing centres are currently available for residents in the borough including Crystal Palace, with testing sites also available in Hayes and St Paul’s Cray. The mobile testing unit which has been available in Norman Park for some time is also continuing to operate, with test appointments available for those with symptoms.
