Applications are being welcomed to the Bromley Household Support Fund, which can provide additional financial support for Bromley families and households in difficult financial situations.

Those facing financial hardship can apply for the discretionary grant via the council website www.bromley.gov.uk/householdsupportfund while funds last, with grant funding able to cover costs towards food, utility bills and other essentials.

Early applications are encouraged, with funds being distributed on a first come first served basis.  Only one application can be made per household and referrals can be made on others’ behalf or by partner organisations, with the initiative formally closing 31 March 2022.

Councillor Peter Morgan, Executive Councillor for Renewal, Recreation and Housing said, “We have continued to support residents and businesses during the pandemic period, with the government funding that has come forwards.  This winter period will no doubt be a challenging period for some residents from a financial perspective.  If you are in this position, please be aware that there are grants available, which can be used to help towards the cost of everyday provisions and we will look at all the applications we receive very carefully”.

The Household Support Fund is a government scheme that gives local authorities discretion as to how to allocate the funding, which allows the council to provide support to families and households who need it. Grants can be given to households with or without children and Bromley has a total of £1.8 million to allocate to residents. The council will assess each application separately and applicants must provide evidence to the council of their circumstances in order to receive a grant.
