Bromley residents are being offered huge reductions on compost bins to help encourage organic recycling. To get residents started, a comprehensive guide to composting at home is available for free from the Council.

“Recycling organic waste is not only good for the environment, but good for your garden as well. If we could get more people composting it would be a great step towards a more environmentally-friendly Bromley. If you are planning on working in the garden this Bank Holiday Monday, this offer is for you!” said Councillor George Taylor, Executive Councillor for the Environment.
About one third of waste in an average dustbin is taken up by potentially compostable materials. Composting at home saves on trips to the local Reuse and Recycling Centre and cuts down on the amount of nuisance bonfires. The supply of rich, untreated compost, is ideal for improving soil and making the garden grow.

More than 20,000 residents have already bought these bargain composters, and it’s not hard to see why, with discounts of over £30. The following deals are available and include free home delivery:

  • 220 litre composter, £14.50 (reduced from R.R.P £39.95);
  • 330 litre composter, £17.50 (reduced from R.R.P £49.95).

Residents can call Blackwall Ltd’s 24-hour order hotline on 0870 844 3010 to buy either of these products. A 32-page guide answering all the key questions about composting is available free of charge, from the Council by calling 020 8313 4989, or emailing green.team@bromley.gov.uk
