Reception for Chairs of School Governing Bodies
A Reception for Chairs of School Governing Bodies took place recently in the Old Palace at the Civic Centre. The occasion was hosted by Bromley’s Executive Member for the Children and Young People Portfolio, Councillor Graham Arthur, in order to thank the Chairs for their hard work in support of Bromley Schools.
A highlight of the evening was the award by the Mayor, Councillor Mrs Joan Wykes OBE, of letters of sincere thanks to nine long serving governors, many of whom have given more than 20 years service to various governing bodies.
Councillor Arthur said: “The enormous amount of time, energy and experience freely given to schools by governors is a crucial factor in the improving performance of Bromley schools. A big thank you goes out to all governors from Bromley Council. Keep up the good work!”
After the presentations, governors were briefly addressed by Ken Davis, director of education and libraries on the significant changes in the education service, which will be driven by the Every Child Matters agenda.
