A benefit fraudster has been sentenced at Croydon Crown Court, bringing the total prosecuted by Bromley Council to 26 over the past 34 months.

Council Leader Stephen Carr said: "Any fraud against this authority cannot be tolerated and we will continue to vigorously prosecute fraudsters and support the courts to enforce the maximum penalties permissible."

Mark Tindill was sentenced to a three year Community Rehabilitation Order. Tindill from Park Hill, Bickley pleaded guilty to 4 charges of benefit fraud. He had submitted false documents to claim benefits totalling about £6,000. In summing up, His Honour R Laurie said ‘This had been a determined and calculated affair lasting a number of months, whilst bolstering the claim with false documents.’
