Bromley GCSE and A level results 2004
Bromley secondary schools showed a significant improvement in their GCSE results in 2004. The percentage of pupils gaining 5 A*-C rose by 3%, from 59% to 62%, which is three times the national rise. Scores for individual schools ranged from 27% to 100%. It is particularly pleasing to note that the results in half of Bromley’s secondary schools rose by significantly more than the national average, and in five of those schools the percentage rise is in double figures.
Even though at A level Bromley continues to score below the national average points score, at 253 compared to 269, it is pleasing to note that Bromley’s increase in 2004 is greater than the national increase.
Graham Arthur, Executive Councillor for Children and Young People, said: "The 2004 GCSE results not only prove once again that Bromley borough secondary schools are performing well above the national average, but highlight the improvement made by many from an already high base. Credit must go to the pupils, staff and governors who have worked tirelessly to secure these results. I was delighted also to see the A level results going in the right direction."
