Crime, disorder and drugs in Bromley
Crime, disorder and drugs in Bromley are highlighted today in an audit carried out by the Safer Bromley Partnership as part of an on-going consultation with Bromley people.
The audit - a summary of which reports in detail from across the borough – provides valuable information from a wide range of sources including emergency services, Bromley Council, health agencies, voluntary groups and Bromley residents.
The audit reports on the effects of crime, people who commit criminal acts and people who are victimised. The audit also provides a baseline that will help to measure future performance in tackling crime and disorder.
The Safer Bromley Partnership - comprising representatives from the Council, police, health, probation, fire service, businesses and housing - now wants to gather people’s views on the audit findings and has set up an area on Bromley Council’s website to enable people to view the audit summary and to provide feedback.
Councillor Colin Smith, the Council’s Executive Councillor for Community Safety and Chairman of the Safer Bromley Partnership said: "This comprehensive audit tells us a great deal about the issues that worry residents the most in Bromley. There are certainly some areas of concern such as anti-social behaviour and hot-spots for particular types of crime, but also some very encouraging signs that the huge majority of residents feel safe in the borough. There is, however, much that can be done through the work of the Safer Bromley Partnership, to reduce crime further and tackle the serious issues that affect the quality of life for all law-abiding people in Bromley."
The findings of the audit will form the cornerstone of the Partnership’s Community Safety Strategy, which will set out the key priorities to reduce crime and disorder in Bromley and include details of how the Partnership intends to build a safer community for all, over the next three years.
