Reception for Bromley head teachers and principals
The lovely setting of the Old Bishops Palace, overlooking the gardens and lake at Bromley’s Civic Centre, was the scene of an end of year reception for Bromley head teachers and college principals on Thursday 30 June 2005. The annual reception was hosted by Councillor Graham Arthur, Executive Member for Children and Young People, and was attended by the Mayor and Deputy Mayor. Head teachers and principals of borough schools and colleges and senior council officers were invited.
Councillor Arthur and the Director of Education and Libraries, Ken Davis, received guests. Councillor Arthur made a short address to guests and, on behalf of members of the Council, thanked Bromley head teachers for their dedication and hard work which assures the high national reputation of Bromley schools. Ken Davis presented certificates to head teachers who are retiring during this academic year. He thanked them for their valuable service and wished them a long and happy retirement.
Christopher Town, retiring head teacher of St Johns CE Primary School, Penge and Richard Harknett, retiring head teacher of Kelsey Park School, Beckenham, gave votes of thanks.
The event provided a superb opportunity for head teachers and councillors to exchange views and ideas personally while meeting in the most congenial surroundings.
