Car parks 'ParkMarked' for safety
Six of Bromley’s car parks have been awarded with the ParkMark badge of excellence. ParkMark is an award which affirms drivers can park their cars with the confidence in the safety and security features of the car park. Bromley’s Parking Team are now working to ensure all of the car parks in the area equal this high standard.
"This is just the beginning. We plan to assess and improve all of the parking sites in Bromley and bring them up to match the tough requirements needed for a ParkMark award. We want to assure drivers they can have greater peace of mind when parking their cars in sites throughout Bromley." said Gerry Broomfield, Bromley Council’s Parking Operations Manager.
To earn a ParkMark award, car parks are vetted by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) to assess whether they meet stringent safety standards in key areas including CCTV monitoring, staff patrols, and contact points for assistance. A total of six car parks in the Bromley area have already received this accolade.
The following sites have been confirmed as ParkMark certified:
- St George's Road;
- Fairfield Road;
- Village Way Multi-Storey Car Park, Beckenham;
- Redhill Library;
- Chislehurst High Street; and
- Hornbrook House, Chislehurst.
ParkMark is the British Parking Association’s (BPA) seal of approval. The BPA is the largest parking association in Europe, with 600 members in both public and private sectors. It is recognised as a major authority within the parking industry, and has set up ParkMark as a nationwide scheme to evaluate which sites provide the safest environment for drivers to park their cars in.
