main content Five day festival of free fitness

07 June 2005

Bromley residents can take part in a festival of free fitness across the capital in support of London's 2012 Olympic bid. Over sixty leisure centres across London will be offering five free days of activities including swimming, gym and fitness classes.

The event, which kicks off on Monday 13 June, is organised by the London Fitness Network and aims to get people into the spirit of the Olympics in the lead up to the crucial decision on Wednesday 6 July. It will also give Londoners the opportunity to visit a range of places and see what great facilities the capital already has on offer.

In Bromley the participating centres are The Pavilion Leisure Centre, The Spa at BeckenhamThe Walnuts Leisure Centre in Orpington and West Wickham Pools.

Sebastian Coe, backing the initiative, which is part of Celebrate Sport with London 2012 said; "Bringing the games to London will give us a huge boost. All residents can benefit and this focus on sport can act as a catalyst for making us a healthier nation."
