16 June 2005

A celebrity cricket match in aid of a children's home for 40 girls affected by the Tsunami in Sri Lanka is being staged at the Kent County Cricket ground in Beckenham. Monies raised will also be shared with this year's Kent Youth Appeal. The cricketing extravaganza on Sunday 26 June will feature two Twenty/20 games and the gates open at 12.30pm at the Worsley Bridge ground.

Councillor Stephen Carr, Leader of Bromley Council said, "This afternoon of fun will have an effect on young lives both here and in far away places. We should not forget the devastation caused by the Tsunami. Part of the inspiration for this event has been the personal contact with those directly affected by the disaster. We know the children's home and the money will be put to good use."
