Suburban Shorts film festival
Suburban Shorts, is the fantastic short film festival specifically designed to give budding young filmmakers aged between 16-18 the chance to work with professionals, and to see their own films on the big screen for the very first time.
This is an amazing opportunity to see emerging young talent for free. Provided in partnership with Antenna Studios, Raindance East, Enfield Film Awards, Arts and Events Tower Hamlets and financially assisted by Film London Education and Audience Development Fund, UK Film Council, and Bromley Mytime the project is now in its third year of running. Young people across the Borough including students from Charles Darwin School and Ravens Wood School have taken part in a programme of seminars and practical workshops with experienced filmmakers, both in school and out of school settings. They then went on to make their own short films and submit them as part of a programme.
There will two programmes in two very different settings. The 'Best of Boroughs' screening event will take place on Sunday 10 July at Antenna Studios at 2pm, Bowyers Yard, in the heart of Crystal Palace, the event is free and there will be a pay bar available.
The Concert Platform in Crystal Palace will be transformed into an outdoor cinema for the 'First Night Screening Event' held on Friday 15 July at 9pm at the Concert Platform, in Crystal Palace Park, Thicket Road, SE19. Plus, you can watch the films from the comfort of your own deckchair, all provided for free.
Arts and Film Officer Kiaran Hall says "This is a fantastic opportunity for aspiring film makers to really get involved and have taste of what it's like to have their work seen on the big screen".
