Dog handlers boost parks safety
Dog handlers will provide security patrols in Bromley's parks and open spaces as part of a new service to help make the borough safer for everyone.
The Mobile Dog Handler Service - run by Ward Security who have been chosen by the Council as approved contractors - will provide a highly visible presence across the borough's 150 parks and open spaces, responding to incidents and upholding Bromley's bylaws.
The new service will be better equipped and more responsive in dealing effectively with anti-social behaviour in a variety of locations across the borough and will work in partnership with the Police to promote community safety.
Councillor Tim Stevens, Bromley Council's Executive Councillor for Leisure and Culture said: "Bromley is well off for parks and open spaces and they are an especially important resource to the many people who use them for a large variety of reasons. They provide an immensely valuable leisure facility for us all. We want to keep them as popular and well used as they already are, and the mobile dog handler service will help us to do this."
Councillor Colin Smith, Bromley Council's Executive Councillor for Community Safety and Chairman of the Safer Bromley Partnership said: "Using dogs on our security patrols means that everyone can now feel safer when they are out and about in parks or open spaces. Although we know that the majority of people do feel safe in Bromley, there is no room for complacency and we will continue to take all the options open to us to help bring down levels of crime and anti-social behaviour in the borough."
