Harriet's nightclub entertainment licence stopped
The public entertainment licence for Harriet’s nightclub and the Clockhouse public house was revoked last week following a Council meeting. The Licensing Sub-Committee revoked the temporary licence following breaches in the licence conditions and complaints from members of the public.
"This is a serious matter and we are disappointed that the licensee did not ensure that the conditions were followed. We are not going to ignore complaints from members of the public about noise levels coming from premises. We expect licence conditions to be followed and we do monitor premises to make sure that they do follow the conditions" said Councillor Tony Owen, Chair of the General Purposes and Licensing Committee.
The Beckenham premises were granted a six month trial licence in 2004, but it became apparent that there were problems with the way the premises were being operated. The Council received complaints about noise. The Council’s licensing officers also witnessed breaches of licence conditions, including lap dancing.
Revoking the licence will stop all dancing on the premises and live music provided by more than three people. It also stops the sale of alcohol after 11pm as late alcohol licences can only operate with a public entertainment licence.
