main content St. Mary Cray fun day

10 March 2005

Everyone is invited to a fun day at the Mountfield Recreation Ground, St. Mary Cray, on Saturday 19 March from 12pm until 3pm.  The event, which is designed to highlight railway crime, is hosted by Cray Valley East Safer Neighbourhood Panel and Network Rail.

A variety of events such as a football tournament, wrestling, fun rides, competitions and prize draws will take place.  The Fire Brigade and Police dogs will also put in appearances.  Alongside all the fun, there will be safety awareness displays manned by Police and railway staff to provide a serious message about railway safety.

Sue McVicker, Community Development Worker for the Mountfield Estate said: "We want people from the area to come along and enjoy themselves. The organisers have gone the extra mile to make this a great afternoon for local people.  There will be lots to do and the activities are designed to enable everyone to join in.  We hope to see you there!"

Councillor Colin Smith, Bromley Council's Executive Councillor for Community Safety and Chairman of the Safer Bromley Partnership said: "The Council is committed to making Bromley safe for everyone.  Most people know that railway crime of any sort is totally unacceptable, however we really need to make sure this message gets through to our young people.  Events such as this give people an opportunity to learn more about how they can help at a local level to keep the railways safe for everyone - and this is a really important message."

In the run up to the day, Police Community Support Officers and local Ward Officers will carry out door to door visits to highlight railway safety issues in the St. Mary Cray area.
