Waldens Farm legal action continues
Six individuals in breach of a court injunction relating to Waldens Farm could face imprisonment. The suspended sentences which relate to a hearing at Bromley County Court on Friday allow time for the individuals to comply with the injunction and remove their caravans from the Green Belt site.
A Council meeting confirmed last week that legal action to stop illegal encampments in Green Belt land at Waldens Farm will continue for as long as necessary. The Council’s Executive has set aside a sum of money to enable them to take further actions where appropriate and indicated that any potential option would be considered. The decision follows legal action this month, following a new incursion onto the site involving four caravans.
“The whole purpose of our legal action is to protect the Green Belt and this action has been effective. Legal action has been a last resort for us. We sympathise with residents who are frustrated when they cannot see change on a day-to-day basis. There are no quick easy solutions to the problems at Waldens Farm and we are mindful that an effective long-term solution needs to be found, but I am determined to bring to an end all illegal incursions at Waldens Farm, or any other Green Belt site”, said Council Leader, Stephen Carr.
