main content Portfolio Holders appointed

17 May 2005

At a meeting of the Council's Executive last night, portfolio responsibilities for the coming year were allocated as follows:

  • Strategy and Communications - Councillor Stephen Carr
  • Children and Young People - Councillor Graham Arthur
  • Community Safety and Leisure - Councillor Neil Reddin
  • Environment - Councillor George Taylor
  • Local Economy - Councillor Colin Bloom
  • Resources - Councillor Colin Smith
  • Social Care, Health and Housing - Councillor Chris Phillips.

The seven Portfolio Holders are the Conservative members of the Council's Executive. The other two Executive Councillors, who do not have a Portfolio responsibility, are Councillor Chris Gaster (Liberal Democrat) and Councillor John Holbrook (Labour).

Council Leader Stephen Carr said: "We are very aware of the issues that concern the residents of Bromley. Following consultation at the end of last year we have revised our Building a Better Bromley statement and will be working very hard to meet their expectations in the months to come."

The Council's new Executive was announced after last week's annual Council meeting, but the Portfolio responsibilities were determined at Monday's Executive meeting.
