Top marks for Bromley primary school
Parish Church of England Primary School has been awarded the prestigious Basic Skills Quality Mark for high standards in reading, writing, spelling and number work, the basic skills that all children need to succeed.
The school was presented with its award by Alan Wells OBE, Director of the Basic Skills Agency, at a ceremony held at the school on 12 May. Mr Wells said: "One of our jobs is to award our Basic Skills Quality Mark to schools that meet a high standard. It is very difficult to get. So, it is a real credit to Parish CE Primary School that it has been awarded our Quality Mark".
The Assessors were particularly interested in the exciting and innovative ways in which the school delivers literacy and numeracy, particularly the emphasis on creativity evidenced by the presence of story tellers, authors and artists. They were impressed not only by the wealth of display observed in the school, but also by the ways the displays illustrated the high standards of numeracy and literacy attained by pupils.
Judy Graydon, Head Teacher, said: "I would like to congratulate all of the staff, pupils, and governors for all their hard work which has lead to this award".
The Quality Mark is awarded for three years and is renewed if the school still meets the high standard required by the Basic Skills Agency.
Graham Arthur, Bromley's Executive Councillor for Children and Young People, said: "I am pleased to see that Parish CE Primary School has joined the select band of Bromley primary schools who have achieved the award".
