Event celebrates black history
Guests were treated to the delights of Caribbean cooking at an event to celebrate the achievements and heritage of black people.
Organised by the Council’s fostering team and held in the Mayor’s suite at the Civic Centre, the day attracted more than 150 people, including foster carers and their families, children in local authority care, social workers and senior managers from the Social Services and Housing Department.
Gill Barnard, Group Manager of Fostering, said: “Feedback from the day has been very positive in terms of the activities and especially the food.
“We are always keen to recruit more foster carers and adopters, and this is especially true of people from black and minority ethnic communities.”
