main content Awards for primary ICT teachers

19 October 2005

Four primary teachers in Bromley schools were selected from 10 finalists for their innovative work with computers at the Bromley Primary ICT Conference held at the Education Development Centre.

Each teacher received a PDA navigator system provided by four of the conference sponsors: CDEC, TAG Learning, SAM Learning and 2Simple Software.

The awards were part of an exciting and busy day where conference participants had the opportunity to share and learn best practice with ICT and to strengthen curriculum networks by joining workshops run by the teachers themselves, sponsors and outside speakers.

Delegates had a chance to visit stands displaying products not only from the award sponsors but also Alphasmart, Cambridge University Press, Crick Software, Direct Visual, EducationCity, Edutech Systems, Espresso Education Ltd, Handy AV Ltd, Medium UK Ltd, Nelson Thornes, Promethean, Sherston Publishing, SoftEase Ltd, TTS Ltd, ProQuest Information & Learn, Renaissance Learning UK Ltd and Resource Education. Delegate bags contained useful resources and interesting information provided by the sponsors.

The keynote address was delivered by independent ICT consultant Russell Prue, of Anderton Tiger. Russell has a strategic vision of the use of technology in education and his presentation addressed the issues and explored new technologies in a unique, lively and highly entertaining manner.

In her concluding remarks, Merril Haeusler, the Council’s Head of School Improvement, thanked the sponsors for their generosity in supporting the conference and congratulated the shortlisted candidates for their outstanding work which all too often goes unacknowledged because of their modesty.

She added: “It was a pleasure to recognise the excellent work in ICT that is happening in all our primary and special schools in Bromley and to present these awards as a token of our appreciation.”
