This years summer holidays were action packed for children and young people with additional needs!
The early years and childcare service ran six summer play schemes offering 1370 places, for children and young people aged 3-19 years.
The programme of activities included workshops on circus skills, animation, arts, dance and visits from the fire brigade.
The matrix scheme for children with high functional autism had two very special visitors to their club: The Cheeky Girls! The pop stars spent two hours with the children signing autographs, having photos taken and answering lots questions. The young people attending the scheme really got a buzz from meeting their pop heroines!
The summer play schemes offer respite for parents, as well as an action packed entertainment programme for the children and young people.
Graham Arthur, Excutive Councillor for Children and Young People, said: "This was the first year that we ran the schemes, and they have been incredibly successful. The holiday playschemes gave children the chance to play, explore, learn and develop in a fun and relaxed environment. The work undertaken this summer has set a very firm foundation for future schemes for the children and young people in Bromley."
