Star athletes meet the Mayor
Bromley top young athletes this week celebrated their achievements from this summer’s London Heathrow Youth Games at a reception hosted by The Worshipful the Mayor of Bromley, Councillor Mrs Joan Wykes. Team managers and athletes celebrated their outstanding result of 2nd place at the annual London Youth Games in July, which is Bromley’s best since 1993!
Each member of the borough’s squad excelled at the Games, competing against more than 20,000 athletes aged 11–17 in 40 different sports, representing all 33 London boroughs. Bromley’s success featured outstanding performances from the gold medal-winning teams in mixed tennis, girls swimming, mixed badminton, boys hockey, mixed fencing, and mixed athletics plus a 3rd placing for girls netball and a 4th place for the trampolining team.
The Mayor of Bromley, Councillor Mrs Joan Wykes, praised the Bromley Team thanking all the hard efforts of the athletes, team managers and the Sports Development Unit at Bromley Mytime who worked so hard in co-ordinating the games.
