19 April 2006

Teenagers will have the opportunity to take their first steps on the road to being rock legends with the ‘Connect Battle of the Bands’ competition to be held on Sunday 30 April. The event will see six local bands play at the Underground Bar at The Churchill Theatre to an audience of over 200 with the winning band receiving a day’s professional studio time as well as an exclusive band photo shoot! Plus the winning band will play a 3 song set to close the event.

Tickets for the event are now available and can be purchased from the Churchill Theatre Box Office. Tickets cost £2 in advance, £4 on the door and are allocated on a first come first served basis. All proceeds from tickets sales will go to the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Entrants have recorded and sent in cover versions and these have been posted on the Connect website at www.getoutmore.org.uk for visitors to listen to.

Vince German, Marketing Executive, said; “We’ve had a great response from Bromley’s young people which is evidence of the music interest around Bromley. This will be a great chance for the six bands to gain experience, get noticed, play to an audience plus win studio time and a photo shoot.”

Connect is a FREE scheme giving teenagers the chance to access leisure and cultural activities with a FREE Connect card that also acts as a library card.

The Connect website www.getoutmore.org.uk has all the entry requirements for the Battle of the Bands.
