A decision by Liberata not to make any employees in their Bromley offices redundant has been welcomed by Bromley Council. Liberata is contracted by the Council to process council tax, housing benefit rates and business rates. The decision was made during a 90 day consultation period with staff and with the Council about moving a proportion of jobs to a new centre of excellence in Sheffield.
Said Councillor Colin Smith, Bromley’s Executive Councillor for Resources: “Since taking over the contract in April 2002 the service provided by our customers has improved significantly and that success has been achieved through effective partnership working with ourselves and Liberata. As our contractor they make the day-to-day business decisions to ensure our customers receive the best possible service. However, employment for people in Bromley is an important concern for the Council and having worked closely with Liberata during the consultation period we are delighted they have agreed that the jobs delivering services for the Council will remain in Bromley and no staff will be made redundant.”
