The standards rise to the next level for a number of pre-schools and day nurseries in the borough.

The Early Years and Childcare Service held the first celebration evening in recognition of the pre-schools and day nurseries that have achieved accreditation from quality assurance schemes. Ten pre‑schools and one day‑nursery attended the celebration evening and were presented with Storysacks to use back in their settings by the mayor of Bromley, Councillor Mrs Joan Wykes OBE.

The scheme involved working through 14 modules where practitioners evaluated their current practice, identified areas for development and implemented changes.

Quality assurance improves the quality of experiences and helps to raise the standards of care and education for young children. Research shows that good quality childcare and education benefits children by positively affecting cognitive, language, social and emotional development. It also helps parents identify good quality provision.

Executive Councillor for Children and Young People, Graham Arthur said: “This is a magnificent achievement and I wholeheartedly congratulate all of the childcare providers who achieved accreditation”.

Childcare providers that achieved accreditation:

St Peters pre-school
Jigsaw pre-school
Happy pre-school
Langley pre-school
Bright Start Montessori
Keston Methodist pre-school
Bizzy Bees pre-school, West Wickham
Gates Green pre-school
Winchelsea House Day Nursery
Charterhouse pre-school
Cygnets pre-school.
