main content All Saints Catholic School to close

31 July 2006

Following extensive local consultation, Bromley Council has taken the decision to close All Saints Catholic School. The Council’s closure proposal was subject to formal Public Notices with a six-week period to enable registering of any objections: no objections were raised.

Working in partnership with the Archdiocese of Southwark and the Governors of the school, the Council prepared a detailed statement of case. Due to the current demand for places and a forecast of pupil population trends, the conclusion was that the school was no longer educationally viable. Members of the School Organisation Committee were advised of the closure on 23 June 2006.

The closure will take effect from August 2007 and arrangements are well in hand to ensure a smooth transfer to other local schools of the remaining pupils. Year 9 pupils were transferred earlier in the academic year to allow a ‘settling in’ period before they start their GCSE options in September. There will be no intake of pupils at All Saints in September.

Governors and parents have been assured of the Council’s commitment to providing the highest possible quality of education for the pupils who remain. The Council is working to ensure their comfortable transition to other schools at the appropriate time.

At L5+ they achieved 54% in Science (up 9% from last year), and in Maths they achieved 59% (up 4% from last year). N.B. These results make allowance for those students who left the school after the closure was announced.
  11. A full range of activities will continue throughout the school calendar: On July 6 parents, governors and visitors were treated to a showcase of the pupils’ talent. A fashion show included Year 10 girls salsa dancing, followed by students modelling George’s (by ASDA) latest fashions on the catwalk. The audience were then entertained by a medley of songs from Grease produced by Ms Jordan and the drama group. The show went out with a bang when a group of our Year 10 boys called ‘Klear-Kut’ demonstrated some fine ‘mc-ing’.
