Bromley secure fifth place in London Youth Games
Bromley’s youngsters achieved a fantastic 5th position at the London Youth Games this weekend. Bromley finished on a points total of 1004, only 7 points less than the silver medallists Croydon on 1011 illustrating how closely fought the competition was.
The London Youth Games welcomed over 25,000 young people to Crystal Palace National Sports Centre to compete in a broad range of individual and team sports.
Bromley’s Boys Hockey team reclaimed their trophy by winning the final as did the mixed athletics team with their sixth consecutive win at the Games. The Badminton team also performed superbly to pick up the gold medal even though they were a player down in the preliminary stages.
Tina Slater, Bromley Mytime Sports Development officer and Bromley Team Manager, said “I’m so proud of the Bromley team. Everyone’s worked so hard in the build up to this event and to secure fifth place is a fantastic result and highlights the depth of sporting talent in Bromley. With the 2012 Olympics taking place in London, the London Youth Games is essential in nurturing our home grown talent”.
