Bromley Council’s Early Years and Childcare Service held the first of its summer events this year, in recognition of National Sure Start Month – a time to celebrate and promote the use of childcare.

The Early Years and Childcare Service held a Family Fun Day, in Norman Park on Saturday 17 June in order to celebrate.

Childcare providers were encouraged to come along and set up stalls of fun activities that children could take part in, while the provider was able to promote their business to the parents.

Over 300 parents and children came along, and while the parents were able to discuss with the stall holders the most appropriate type of care for their child (from a day nursery, pre-school playgroup, childminder, out of school club or holiday playscheme) their children were able to enjoy face-painting, treasure hunts, tombolas, finger painting, Thai cookery, flag making, butterfly wings craft activity, hook a duck, and much much more!

The Cheeky Girls performed a short set for the audience.

The glorious sunshine helped the happy atmosphere, and parents and children had a really good time at this free event.

Ernest Noad, Bromley’s executive councillor for children and young people, said: “It was wonderful to see childcare providers working together to promote the different range of services available to parents. We hope to build on this event and, in the light of experience, look forward to next year’s event”.
