main content Council gives landlords the information they need

12 June 2006

Later this month, Bromley Council is holding a training day for local landlords. The event is a chance for them to find out what changes introduced by the recently enforced Housing Act 2004 will mean to them. Non-compliance can result in a fine of up to £20,000. Landlords will also receive advice on how they can get properties standing empty to a decent standard for letting.

Organised by the Council’s Housing Initiatives Team, the training day will be held on 23 June between 9.00 am and 4.30pm, at the Civic Suite, Bromley Council. Landlords will receive advice on the implications of the Housing Act for those in the private rented sector and the new compulsory licensing scheme for houses in multiple occupation. They’ll also hear about new powers to bring empty properties back into use and enforcement to improve housing conditions. They can also learn what action Bromley Council will be taking to bring such homes back into use.

The Housing Initiatives Team will be on hand to talk about the highly successful Direct Let Scheme and to give advice and information. The Notting Hill Housing Group and SLFHA Ltd will also talk about private sector leasing.
