Bromley School Sport Partnership
On Friday 2nd March Bromley School Sport partnership hosted the annual Bromley Schools Gymnastics festival at Bromley Valley Gymnastics Centre which was attended by 22 schools and some 600 pupils.
The event, now in its 13th year has become steadily more popular, with this year seeing a record number of performers.
The festival day provides an opportunity for infant, junior, primary, secondary and special schools to celebrate their gymnastics talents.
Performances varied from ribbon work to aerobic gymnastics and involved solo performers, doubles, gymnastic clubs within schools and whole classes.
The atmosphere was terrific and the children were buzzing with excitement in anticipation of performing on Bromley Valley’s professional sprung floor. It is hoped that by gaining the opportunity to perform in this environment, pupils will be encouraged to develop the skills taught in schools to the next level and approach local clubs. With 2012 looming, it is possible that from Schools’ events such as these pupils can be inspired to reach Olympic potential.
The festival was also attended by hundreds of parents and carers and both regional development officers for England Gymnastics who were impressed with the huge participation of this event.
Bromley School Sport Partnership is committed to creating opportunities for pupils to participate in physical activity and to try different sports.
