Councillor Pauline Tunnicliffe of Orpington ward was elected Mayor of Bromley for 2007-08 at the annual Council meeting on Wednesday, 16 May. As one of her first mayoral duties she appointed Councillor Brenda Thompson of Cray Valley East ward as Deputy Mayor.

Councillor Tunnicliffe said: "I’m proud and delighted at being chosen to represent Bromley as its Mayor. I’m looking forward to meeting as many people across the borough as possible during my year in office, highlighting all the wonderful work that goes on locally and celebrating our achievements." The Mayor has chosen the Bromley Diabetes Support Group (affiliated to Diabetes UK) as her charity for the year.

The Council meeting also appointed Councillor Stephen Carr of Bromley Common and Keston as Leader for the fourth year running and eight other members of the Executive.

Councillor Carr said: "I’m thrilled to have been reappointed Leader of the Council and retain the confidence of my colleagues in continuing to Build a Better Bromley for local people.”

The Liberal Democrat and Labour members of the Executive continue to be Councillors Chris Gaster and John Getgood respectively.

The chairmen, vice-chairmen and memberships of the Council's Policy Development and Scrutiny (PDS) committees and other committees were also appointed.
