Portfolio holders appointed
At a meeting of the Council's Executive last night, Council Leader Stephen Carr allocated portfolio responsibilities for the coming year as follows:
Graham Arthur, Adult & Community Services
Julian Benington, Local Economy
Colin Bloom, Public Protection & Safety
Ernest Noad, Children & Young People
Neil Reddin, Resources
Colin Smith, Environment & Leisure
The six Portfolio Holders and Leader are the Conservative members of the Council's Executive. The other two Executive councillors, who do not have a portfolio responsibility, are Councillor Chris Gaster (Liberal Democrat) and Councillor John Getgood (Labour).
Councillor Carr said: "I think we have got a really strong and experienced team which is determined to push ahead with our Building a Better Bromley agenda. I would like to thank and pay special tribute to Councillors Taylor and Tickner for their huge contribution on the Executive over the last few years.”
The Council's new Executive was announced after last week's annual Council meeting, but the portfolio responsibilities were determined at last night's Executive meeting.

Notes to editors:
1. The Council appoints a Leader and eight other councillors to sit on the Executive for one year. This Executive provides political leadership and proposes policies and budgets. It meets monthly, taking decisions by majority vote. Six councillors, with the Leader, have portfolio responsibilities and are appointed from the political party forming the administration of the Council. A councillor from each of the two largest minority groups also sits on the Executive, giving it a membership of nine.
