main content Where to get your freedom pass from October 1

21 September 2007

If you are 60 and are applying for a freedom pass, from October 1 you should apply in person to any branch of the Post Office® in Bromley or participating boroughs in the London-wide scheme, which includes all adjoining boroughs to Bromley.

This is because the Council has improved the way freedom passes are distributed so that with over 37 post office branches in the borough alone residents can apply for the freedom pass in far more outlets than before.
The freedom pass is invaluable in giving older people in London the ‘freedom’ to move around the capital. It is available to all residents over 60 to travel on buses, tubes, docklands light railway and trams between the 9am and 4.30am and the national rail network between 9.30am and 4.30pm. It also gives a discount to those travelling on the Thames River service. With over 63.000 residents in Bromley eligible for the Freedom Pass, the Council wants to make sure residents know how and where to apply for their new Freedom Pass so look out for leaflets and posters in Council offices, libraries and GP surgeries.
Each Freedom Pass costs the Council £216 regardless of use and the Bromley has the highest rate of take up of the pass in London so the Council is asking those who do not use the card to consider whether they still wish apply.

You can pick up an application form for the freedom pass at any post office, at all Bromley libraries, at the Civic Centre, Bromley and from the Council’s offices at the Walnuts in Orpington from October 1.
