main content Bromley Charter Market consultation

07 February 2008

Shoppers, visitors, traders and residents are invited to give their views on Bromley’s historic Charter Market and suggest ways to improve its popularity. The consultation is designed to find out whether people are satisfied with its current location at Station Road car park, and the selection of wares on offer. Questionnaires are available to complete at the Thursday market between 9am and 2pm on February 14th and 21st or on-line at www.bromley.gov.uk/neatstreet  for return by February 25th.

Bromley Charter Market is an historical attraction which has a loyal customer base. We want to make it more popular as a recognised alternative shopping experience to visitors in Bromley whilst making sure that existing customers and traders continue to support it” said Peter Turvey, Enforcement and Technical Support Manager.

The results of the survey will decide whether Bromley Charter Market is relocated to a more prominent site.

Dating back to 1205 and originally held in Market Square, Bromley Charter Market moved to Station Road car park, a quiet location behind Bromley North Station, in the 1930’s. Open every Thursday from 9am to 3pm, products include flowers, plants, magazines and cards, groceries, fresh vegetables and fruit, fashion wear, a haberdashery and cosmetics, all at competitive prices.

Further information on markets and street trading can be found at www.bromley.gov.uk/neatstreet  or by calling the Street Services help desk on 020 8313 4621.
