Bromley’s School Governors Celebrated
Bromley Council’s Executive Member for the Children and Young People Portfolio, Councillor Ernest Noad, hosted the recent 2007 annual Reception for Chairmen of School Governors. This event was instigated some years ago as an opportunity to give recognition to the outstanding commitment given by Governors in support of Bromley schools.
Awards were presented by the Mayor, Councillor Pauline Tunnicliffe and Deputy Mayor, Councillor Brenda Thompson, to 24 long serving Governors, several of whom have given more than 20 years service.
Councillor Noad thanked the Chairmen, indeed all Bromley Governors, for their hard work and paid tribute to the enormous amount of time and energy they invested in supporting their schools. Councillor Noad said: “I know that, as Governors, you will share Bromley Council’s ambition to achieve the very best outcomes for children and young people in this borough.”
Governors were also addressed by Gillian Pearson, Director of Children and Young People Services, who reflected on some of Bromley Schools’ many successes. Ms Pearson said: “The success and performance of schools is reliant on strong and effective partnership which includes positive challenge – and this engages Governors, Head Teachers and Bromley Council.”
