main content Areas of Bromley Central library unavailable in September 2008

02 September 2008

Due to building works associated with installation of self-service equipment, certain areas of Bromley Central Library will be closed during September.

The normal Lending service will be maintained throughout; however, the Reference Library will close from Wednesday 3 September to Saturday 27 September inclusive and Local Studies will close on 3 September until Saturday 13 September inclusive.

On the 2nd floor of the Lending Library there will be a quick reference service available, together with current newspapers and periodicals and an increased number of People's Network terminals to compensate for non-availability of terminals in the closed areas. The wi-fi service will still be available, though customers will need to use their laptop batteries.

When the improvements are completed, the new system will speed up the process of borrowing or returning items, so queues at the desk will disappear. Staff will be on hand to explain the new equipment when it goes live early in October 2008.
