Anerley Hill resurfacing work tonight to re-open the road southbound following yesterday’s oil spill

Resurfacing work and specialist cleaning will take place tonight in Anerley Hill so that the road can then re-open.  Anerley Hill has remained closed to traffic southbound only following an oil spill on Thursday morning.  The road remains shut for safety reasons and motorists are advised to follow the diversions in place.

The resurfacing and cleaning work will take place from the early evening and will continue into the night and will be finished by 3 a.m.  The Council apologises for any inconvenience this work may cause, with contractors completing the noisier work in the early part of the evening, with work after midnight being quieter.

Part of the road, towards Crystal Palace Parade, will be resurfaced as needed, with the area further down the hill requiring specialist cleaning.  The work is required to allow the road to re-open again after the oil spill affected a considerable length of the road, causing the road to be hazardous.

Diversions will remain in place until the work is complete, with the road re-opening as soon as possible thereafter.
